As you prepare to leave home, remember this key truth: you have people at home who will always love you and look forward to your return.
You are blessed if this includes your physical family. However, even if you don’t have a close physical family, your “home” can also be made up of close friends and brethren (fellow Christians who are your spiritual brothers and sisters).
Keep in Touch
When you are away, make a deliberate effort to stay in contact. Send emails, texts, letters, or make phone calls to let your loved ones know you care.
Even when your schedule gets busy with school or work, always make time to communicate with those who support you. A quick message doesn’t take long, but it means a lot to those back home.
A Source of Strength
When you get tired, sad, or confused, the people who love you can be a great source of strength and guidance. Sometimes, home is simply the best place to rest, recharge, and reflect on your goals.
When you return home for visits, you will notice that you have changed. You will be more independent and mature. Because of this, you might experience temporary moments of conflict or discomfort as everyone adjusts to your new independence.
Be patient and keep communicating. With open conversations, you can easily work through any adjustments.
Looking Forward to Our Heavenly Home
This comforting experience of having a loving home points us toward a greater reality: our heavenly home. God is waiting to welcome His faithful children to live with Him forever.
Live your life in a way that allows you to enjoy God’s blessings on this earth, while keeping your eyes on the joys of His eternal home.
