There Will Be A Judgment Day

“…it is appointed for men to die once but after this comes the judgment” — Hebrews 9:27

We do not like to think about death very often. However, it is an unavoidable fact that we will all pass away someday. Some people die when they are young, and others when they are old, but death is something everyone must face.

Enjoying Life Responsibly

While we are alive, we should enjoy our lives and do things that bring us joy. At the same time, we must remember that God will hold us accountable for the things we say and do (Ecclesiastes 11:9-10; Matthew 12:36).

When we make mistakes and sin, we must ask God to forgive us. We also need to pray for the strength and wisdom to overcome temptation.

For God’s children, death is not the end of life, but the beginning of an eternal existence with our Creator. While we should never do anything to cut our lives short, we can live without fear. When death does come, God’s children can know that He is waiting for them.

An Unavoidable Appointment

The writer of Hebrews describes death as an “appointment.” Just like a doctor’s appointment, it is a reserved time that cannot be skipped.

Although we do not know when our lives will end, we must always be prepared to meet God because we will all stand before Him in judgment (God’s final evaluation of our lives).

While we cannot reschedule or ignore this appointment, we can prepare for it today. By living in obedience to Him, we can look forward to hearing these words:

“Well done… enter into the joy of your Lord.”
