The Life of the Unfaithful is Hard

“Good understanding gains favor, but the way of the unfaithful is hard.” (Proverbs 13:15)

The Choice of Two Paths

If you seek wisdom from God’s word, it will help you live a good life. You will find favor with God and learn to live wisely.

However, if you refuse to seek God’s wisdom, you make your life much more difficult here on earth. You will also face eternal consequences unless you repent (turn away from sin and turn toward God).

Many people think they can ignore God’s laws without any consequences. In movies, television shows, and video games, it often looks like people can do whatever they want and never get hurt.

But what you see on screens is not real life. Every sin eventually brings problems, even if those problems are hidden at first. You might experience quiet feelings of guilt, regret, or shame. People often feel bad for a very long time about the temporary “fun” they had.

Is the Christian Life Too Hard?

Some people argue that the life of a Christian (a follower of Christ) is too difficult. They point out that Christians must avoid popular activities and be very careful about how they behave.

It is true that pleasing God requires effort and self-control. It can be especially hard to do the right thing when all of your friends are doing what is wrong.

However, choosing the right path brings lasting rewards:

• You will feel happier and have a clear conscience.
• You will know that you have chosen a better way to live.
• True, lasting happiness only comes by obeying God.

The devil’s temporary fun is just a cheap imitation. It can never replace the true joy that comes from loving and obeying God.
