Help A Cheater?

Bible Study

Your best friend, Jeremy, is in a bind. Today is a major math test, and he didn’t study last night because he had a baseball game and felt too tired to prepare afterward.

He is relieved because you sit right next to him in class. Jeremy asks you to write your answers larger and tilt your test paper so he can easily copy them.

You don’t want Jeremy to fail the test. After all, he is the one who would be cheating, not you. Yet, deep down, you feel that helping him cheat is wrong.

Discussion Questions

  • What should you do in this situation? How do you balance being a loyal friend with doing the right thing?
  • Is helping someone cheat just as bad as cheating yourself? Why or why not?
  • How could you help Jeremy prepare differently in the future without compromising your own integrity (honesty and moral principles)?
