Does God Always Love Me?

Sometimes when we do something we know we should not do, we might ask ourselves, “Does God still love me even though I did this?” Other times, when we feel lonely or forgotten, we might wonder, “Does God really love me?”

We should never doubt God’s love for us. He loves us so much that He sent Jesus to teach us how to live right. Then, Jesus died a painful death on the cross so that our sins could be forgiven.

If God loved us enough to sacrifice His own Son, we can be absolutely sure that He will never stop loving us.

God Loves the Sinner, Not the Sin

Although God loves us unconditionally, He does not love the wrong things we do.

For example, God commands us to obey our parents (Ephesians 6:1). When we are disobedient, God still loves us, but He is not pleased with our behavior. He wants us to confess our mistake, apologize to Him, and choose to obey our parents.

God hates sin, but He loves the sinner. He wants all of us to grow, change, and become more like Jesus.

God’s Judgment and Mercy

In the end, God will punish those who choose to live in disobedience. He does not want anyone to suffer. Instead, He wants everyone to repent (to turn away from sin and turn toward God) and serve Him:

“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” — 2 Peter 3:9

However, God will not force anyone to obey Him. If people choose to walk away from Him, they will face the consequences of that choice.

A Hope for Heaven

On the other hand, those who love God and seek to obey His word will live with Him forever in heaven. Imagine that!

Heaven is a place where:

• No one ever dies or gets sick.
• No one is ever sad, lonely, or hurting.
• There are no bad influences or temptations from the devil.

This is a beautiful promise, and it is exactly where God wants you to be.

When we make a mistake and disobey God, we must quickly pray to Him, ask for forgiveness, and do our best not to make that mistake again. Because He loves us, He will always help us walk in the right direction.
